Osaka Municipal Subway (Ōsaka-shiei chikatetsu) is the metro network in the city of Osaka, Japan, an integral part of the extensive mass transit system of Greater Osaka (Kansai region), having 101 out of the 1,108 rail stations (2003) in the Osaka-Kobe-Kyoto region. It is operated by Osaka Municipal Transportation Bureau. Its first service, the Midōsuji Line from Umeda to Shinsaibashi, opened in 1933.
The Osaka Municipal Subway uses rolling stock built between 1967 and 2005. All lines are worked by a single type of stock except the Midōsuji, the Tanimachi, and the Chūō Lines.

The latest rollout of stock is 80 Series for the Imazatosuji Line on November 2005. The subway rolling stock is mainly divided in two categories, one consisting of conventional electric motored trains and the other of linear motored trains.

Rates
Osaka Municipal Subway charges a fare between 200 yen and 350 yen for single ride of an adult passenger based on travel distance. There exist some discount programs as well.
